Serious badminton awesomeness

Tonight’s round of badminton was the best I’ve had in some time. Very little off-court time, and some totally epic battles, including a nearly half hour game that I’ll remember for a long time.
Mel and I were playing against Roman and Vlad. The game just went on and on – lots of drops, drives and clears – which of course let to the glorious smashes! I was *totally* on fire. Mel was great too – her drops were deadly, and she can cover the court very well.
One rally, I must have hit five or six smashes, one after another after another, the final one dropping me to my knees for the point, heart pounding. What a great feeling – so alive!
This tells me that my smashes need work, as Roman and Vlad were actually returning about, sixty percent of them.
The game went to 14-14, and then to 2-3 – even though we lost, on one point, I felt great about that game, as did everyone else.
The night was filled with plenty of other great games as well. For the last game of the night, Gabriel & Kevin took Yun and I on in a game of left-handed badminton. Humbling and hilariously fun at the same time.
With the right folk, badminton is a seriously kick-ass fun sport.
