A busy grinching weekend

It all starts with Friday – my usual work-at-Patty’s day, followed up by a couple of games of LaserQuest with some of the staff of the Routhier Community Centre, where I play badminton and Tracey teaches bellydancing. I did pretty well, monkey-dancing my way around everyone else’s shots to first place for both games, as well as first and third place for the day.
Saturday was the Wutan Canada Xmas party which this year took place at Tuckers Marketplace. We had to wait about twenty minutes before going in – I guess people were taking longer than Tuckers expected.. It was a good time – in spite of Tuckers. There were dirty plates (filthy, actually), exceedingly slow service, the dried-on dirty coffee cup Tracey was served, and the beer I ordered that many at our table joked that I would never get (I did, ventually).
Otherwise, we had a good time – there was, of course a belly dancer that Tracey knew, and who dragged her up. We just can’t go anywhere without seeing a belly dancer, it would seem. There were a couple of singers, Martin did some stand up, and then there was the chippendale contest (which I did not take part in).
This was followed Sunday by the usual brunch, and then our annual Grinch party started in the early afternoon. Tracey is a member of Women Moving Forward, and they are collecting items for a local women’s shelter, so Tracey thought it would be cool if we collected items for the shelter. We collected four boxes and five bags of new and used items for the shelter. Way to go everyone!
The party was great. We counted twenty three people who came through our doors to spend some time with us – thank you all for coming – it means so much to us that so many of you chose to spend some time with us during the busy holiday season. It was fun to chat with everyone, and of course, sample the tasty food people brought.
Oh, and I should share something I discovered; Ouzo mixed with A&W Root Beer mixes really well together, if you ask me. A cursory look through Google doesn’t show anything like this, so I suppose I should be coming up with a name for it. Hmm.
I believe a few rounds of Tracey’s signature drink, the Creamy Shimmy (Baileys, Disaronno Amaretto and a Hersheys Kiss went around as well. I’m sure if pestered, Tracey will post something about that over on her blog.
